Easy Chocolate Cake Recipe
This Easy Chocolate Cake Recipe yields one 8-inch 2-layer cake.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 2/3 cups granulated sugar
- 2/3 cups dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa
- 3/4 cups butter
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat two cake pans with softened butter. Dust with flour and remove any excess. Set aside. In a large bowl, slowly combine all ingredients (listed above). Continue mixing for 3 minutes, increase the blender's speed if needed.
- Divide the batter equally in both pans, spread evenly. Bake in oven until the tops spring back up when touched lightly. Let both cake pans cool for 10 - 15 minutes. Using a butter knife, loosen cake layers from the pan- sit cake layers on a wire rack until cooled completely.
- Use a serrated knife to level the tops of cake layers. Place trimmed side down, on top. Apply 1/2 cup of icing of your choice (preferably fudgy cream-cheese frosting) on top of the layer and spread evenly. Then place the second layer on top of the first- proceed to cover the top and the sides with the remaining icing.
